The redesigned 2009 Infiniti FX50 offers U.S. customers several new technologies.

Chief among them:

* A seven-speed automatic transmission, developed with Nissan Motor Co. subsidiary Jatco Ltd.

* Brakes that apply automatically before a collision.

* A distance control assist that maintains safe distances between vehicles in heavy traffic.

The emergency brakes warn drivers of a collision and then brake automatically with as little as one second of response time.
